Blessings

Sunday was a very special day for us.  Ellie was blessed at our church.  She wore a beautiful white dress that was passed down from my mom and we were joined by many of our sweet family members and friends to celebrate.  After the service, we snapped a few pictures and then went home and had a delicious brisket lunch (we love us some Pioneer Woman recipes!!!!) and hung out for a while.

Hearing Wesley say Ellie's blessing brought tears to my eyes. I thought about how we have come such a long way over these past few months, and have been showered with blessings ourselves along the way.  Our greatest blessing has been and will always be our amazing support system of family and friends.  It takes a village to raise a child and I couldn't pick better people for Ellie to grow up around and be influenced by.  We know that she is a child of God and I hope we can do our best as her parents to teach her, guide her, and walk beside her as she grows. We know that one day she will grow up to be a wonderful independent woman, full of grace and love, and will inspire and uplift those around her. For now though, we are quite content to keep her as the sweet little baby that she is!

Up Close

Ellie is growing right along.  I have had a busy week this week getting ready for her first trip and her baby blessing on Sunday.  I can't believe it is almost here!  Right now, she is getting really good at holding her head up when you hold her and loves "sitting up" against our legs and looking around.  She still loves starting at us when she is awake and alert (I guess we are keepers!).  Her sleeping schedule seems to be changing daily.  She was sleeping really good at night or 3-4 hour stretches and napping good during the day.  Now it is harder for her to sleep during the day...and she doesn't really want to go to sleep at night.  It is so hard to judge where she is on her sleeping development because she is technically 3 months, where sleep gets more organized, but only 4 weeks past her due date, where sleep is all over the place.  So, it feels a lot like a guessing game.

She is still eating really well, and subsequently also becoming a very good spitter.  She is getting bigger and she is being able to wear more and more of the clothes that she has been too small for up until now.  One of my favorites are the snap shirts that work so well with a bib over them.  They are perfect for lounging around the house and so easy to change out of she gets them dirty!  It is so rare now that she ends up wearing the outfit I put her in when she wakes up by the time bath time comes around at night.

Such a sweet girl!

August Visits

Ellie had some great family visitors last month!  We were blessed to see her great Gramma and Grandpa Helveston during their "tour of the east coast." ;)  We also had fun visits with Ellie's Honeycutt cousins and her Mia and Papa!!  We can't wait for more fun visits in the coming months!

Ellie's Day Out

On Labor Day, Wesley and I found ourselves with the itch of cabin fever for the first time since we brought Ellie home.  Don't get me wrong, we haven't minded at all staying in over the past month. We have loved our low key living at home with our sweet baby girl as she has grown from premie to newborn. But, as Wesley pointed out, you really can only watch so many movies and hours of Netflicks before its time for a break for some fresh "out of the house" air.

A trip to the park would have been a great option, had it not been one million degrees outside.  Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but really anything over 90 degrees to me might as well be classified as one million.  I'm not going to lie, we pretty much sat around for a good hour while Ellie slept on the floor trying to figure out what to do.

By this time it was around 2PM, and we decided to venture out and have lunch at our favorite Mexican resturant.  It was a pretty safe bet that the lunch crowd had disppersed, and sure enough it had.  We were one of 3 families in there.  Ellie got a nice seat at the booth next to me!

Loving the taste of the "non-house" atmosphere, and since Ellie was sleeping so good in her car seat, we decided to be adventurous and head over Cary and walk through a few stores.  Thankfully, the stores where pretty low key.  Although, we were more than prepared to high tail it back to the car if they were packed full of shoppers.  Can you guess where Wesley wanted to go?

That evening we got to go visit the Nussmans and meet the twins, Samuel and Nora, in person!  It was so fun to see Ellie and her newest friends all together!!

They couldn't have been any cuter!!!
