DIY Halloween Art

Meet my fantastically versatile 5 x 8 frame.  I think this was one of the first frames I ever bought.  Currently, it resides on my mantle proudly displaying whatever I happen to have in it at the time.  (Yes, the picture had to be this big for you to see the full effect)

This cute Halloween art is a variation of this pin.  I put some classic Macbeth lines to a mixture of these fonts for a witty background (instead of the sheet music).

Two words...so easy! Oh, and... Happy Friday!

Fall Wreath

Who doesn't love a great wreath?  The great thing about doings things DIY, is that you can pull from a few of your favorites and make them custom.  I was inspired by this and this.  I love the hydrangeas in the fall colors and the ribbon paired with the berries.  This will definitely be a keeper!

DIY Fall Favorites - Themed Plates

My October posts will be dedicated to my favorite DIY projects for fall that were inspired from my Pinterest pins.  I'm kicking it off early with one of my favorites:

These DIY plates were inspired from this pin.

I used a brown Sharpe instead of a porcelain 150 pen, since these were going to be display only.  And of course, selections of Harry Potter instead of The Raven were much more in keeping with our household. (Any guesses on which books these are from??)

If you are lucky, you can find the plate stands at the Dollar Tree too, but they were out the second time I went (I knew I should have gotten more than one!).  AC Moore has them for like $2, so not too shabby.

I am so happy with how my fall kitchen display turned out!

All Fenced In

It's been almost 2 years since we have been in our house, and Penny's spoiled rotten days are over...

With the help of some of our amazing family members, we were able to fence in the backyard last weekend, so Penny has a new domain - the backyard.

Ahhh, just where she belongs!

Summer Favs

Confession, I don't really like summer...its just so hot.  Too hot.

However, I have loved a few things about this summer:

1. Our garden.

Unlike me, it loves the heat and we have gotten so much from it this year! This was one of many delicious suppers we got out of the garden:

2. Trip to Texas

It was so great to visit with my extended family in Houston again!  Hopefully it will become a tradition in these later years.  We always love the food (best Mexican ever), but this year I was also introduced to Charming Charlie's.  It was like the mecca of all jewelry stores.  You can imagine the elation when my sister Kelsey told me we have one in Raleigh.  Can't wait to check it out!

And if you are ever in Houston, be sure to check out Gringos:

3. The Amazing Spiderman

So there were a lot of great movies that came out this summer, but I think this one was my favorite.  Um, Andrew Garfield....need I say more?  Wesley and I were so impressed with the script, actors, and pretty true to the original story line, that we have already gotten rid of the "older version" and are anticipating when this one comes out on BlueRay.

4. Orlando Family Vacation

Three words:  Harry Potter World.  I have no shame admitting that I am a huge Harry Potter fan.  A much needed 5 day vacation to Universal Studios and Disney world was a great way to end our summer.  Oh, it was hot, but so worth it!

Cheers for summer being over... so excited for fall!

Piano Love

So Wesley and I have discovered a new artist that we love.  Like they are our go to Pandora station when we are cleaning the house...

If you haven't heard of The Piano Guys, you should check them out.  They are the new age of "new age" instrumental.

Here is their latest single:

Beautiful, right?  Oh, and how come in my 9 years of piano lessons, I never learned how to play like that?

You can also checkout their YouTube station

Happy Wednesday!

2 Years

This weekend Wesley and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. We have been blessed with two amazing years and many more ahead. Our love of traveling took us away for the weekend, a tradition that I hope we can keep each year. We went to Washington DC for 3 days and had a lovely time relaxing, sightseeing, and eating great food. We also got to see the DC temple at night for the first time.... So pretty!

I am excited to see what year three brings... To kick it off, I will be starting a new job as a telemetry nurse next week and we will find out soon if Wesley's contracted programming position will become a permenant one!
